The United States seeks to limit Russia's ability to produce oil and gas in the long term, but at the moment there are no plans for sanctions measures that could disrupt energy supplies to European countries. This was stated by Deputy DIRECTOR of the National Economic Council of the White House Duleep Singh.
“Our measures were not designed to in any way disrupt the current supply of energy resources from RUSSIA to the rest of the world. As for Russia's long-term production capabilities, we are looking to reduce those capabilities, but in the short term, nothing is [planned] with regard to energy,” he said.
According to him, all the already imposed sanctions were developed in coordination with the EU, Australia, Japan, CANADA, New Zealand and the UK. He noted that they are aimed at slowing down Russia's economic growth and reducing its military capabilities.
