Sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin are not rejected, they are "on the table." This was stated by US President Joe Biden, the broadcast was hosted by the White House YouTube channel.
So, when asked by a journalist about why Biden has not yet imposed sanctions against Putin personally, the US President replied: "They are not rejected, they are on the table."
To a clarifying question, why not impose sanctions on Putin today, Biden did not answer.

Earlier in the day, The New York Times also reported on Germany's reluctance to impose sanctions on Putin personally. According to the newspaper, the ambassadors of the European Union in Brussels discussed sanctions against the Russian economy and individuals, but could not agree to impose sanctions against the Russian president personally, including because of the position of Germany.
