The Accounts Chamber changed its mind about the fuel crisis
The Accounts Chamber warned in its annual report that Russia could face the risk of a repeat of the fuel crisis, as in 2018, when the authorities had to freeze gasoline prices. The report was published at night, but already during the day the auditors corrected the forecast and stated that the risk is minimal.
“In its activities, the Accounts Chamber studies and monitors risks in all areas of state policy, including in the direction of curbing the growth of fuel prices. At present, based on our analysis of government actions in 2018-2020 in this area, we see that the risks of repeating the 2018 scenario are minimal,” the auditors said in a new commentary. Since the beginning of the year, fuel prices have risen again in Russia. Since the end of 2020, gasoline has risen in price by 2.2%, and wholesale prices for AI-92 on the stock exchange have reached a historic high. The Ministry of Energy attributed the rise in prices to increased demand due to abnormal cold weather. And analysts believe that the reason for the rise in prices was that it is more profitable for manufacturers to EXPORT gasoline, rather than sell it domestically.Biden on Putin and Russia's "intervention"
US President Joseph Biden, in an interview with ABC News, said that he personally warned Vladimir Putin about the consequences if the fact of interference in the 2020 presidential election is revealed. And he admitted that he considers the President of Russia a "murderer."
