Australia added singer Shaman and actor Manucharov to its sanctions list.

Sanctions were imposed on Tatarstan's head, Rustam Minnikhanov, athlete and TV presenter Maria Kiseleva, and the Foundation for the Support and Protection of Compatriots' Rights. Russian authorities consider Western sanctions illegal.

Australia has imposed new anti-Russian sanctions, adding 37 individuals and seven organizations to the list, including singer Shaman (Yaroslav Dronov), the country's Foreign Ministry press service reported.

The ministry explained that the list includes individuals or organizations “who, in the minister’s opinion, are or have been engaged in activities or perform functions of economic or strategic importance to Russia.”

The list also includes film producer Anton Zlatopolsky, actor Vyacheslav Manucharov, head of the Institute for Internet Development Alexey Goreslavsky, head of News Media Aram Gabrelyanov, businessmen Roman Trotsenko, Anatoly Sedykh, and Artem Chaika, head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, and Olympic synchronized swimming champion and TV presenter Maria Kiseleva. Australian sanctions also targeted the insurance company Soglasie, integrated circuit manufacturer Mikron, technology company Minatekh, and the Foundation for the Support and Protection of Compatriots' Rights.

With the new sanctions package, Australia is demonstrating close cooperation with its international partners and aiming to deprive Russia of the ability to finance the operation in Ukraine , Foreign Minister Penny Wong wrote on her Facebook page.

In February, Australia imposed its largest sanctions package against Russia in three years. The sanctions targeted 70 individuals and 79 entities associated with Russia.

The European Union also included Shaman on its sanctions list, and the singer also fell under Ukrainian restrictions.

Moscow condemns the sanctions imposed against it.
