Antonov said that the US failed to bring down the Russian economy with sanctions

The United States failed to bring down the Russian economy, said Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov. The message was published in the TELEGRAM channel of the embassy.

Antonov called the sanctions against the founders of Alfa Group and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) an attempt by the US authorities to "smooth the growing criticism here about the failure of the restrictive policy of the White House."

According to him, “even local Russophobes are extremely clear” that it was not possible to bring down the Russian economy and “undermine the technological sovereignty of Russia”. “This fact has been confirmed, among other things, by specialists from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund,” Antonov said.

“Western attacks in the economic sphere are stopped, allowing the Russian people to look to the future with confidence. Meanwhile, states outside the notorious “golden billion” are once again convinced of the unreliability and toxicity of the US-centric financial system,” the ambassador concluded.

On August 11, the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control expanded the sanctions list against Russians and Russian organizations.

Restrictions included:
