The head coach of the Russian national hockey team Alexei Zhamnov does not work at friendly matches with the team of Belarus in agreement with the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF). Zhamnov himself told RBC about this.
On Sunday, the RSC, citing two sources close to the FHR, wrote that Zhamnov refused to work at exhibition games with the Belarus team, and his contract, which expires at the end of the season, will not be extended.
“I didn’t refuse anything,” Zhamnov said. - Before these games, I had a conversation with Tretyak (President of the FHR. - Note) and with Kurbatov (executive DIRECTOR of the FHR). it was decided that a youth team would go to these games. And Zubov will take her. No one removed me from my post."
Answering the question about whether he continued to work with the Russian national team, Zhamnov said: “After the holidays, I will meet with the leaders and begin to understand how everything will develop further.”
At the end of February, the Russian team was suspended from participation in the World Championship, which will begin on May 13 in Finland. Half a month later, the team was expelled from the Eurotour.
Now the Russians are playing friendly matches with Belarus. Yesterday the Russian team won 5:2. There will be another meeting today.
From May 5 to May 8, a tournament will be held in St. Petersburg , in which the national and youth teams of RUSSIA, as well as the team of Belarus, will take part.
