The incidence of COVID-19 in the region increased by 1.5 times over the week

The number of detected cases of CORONAVIRUS infection over the past week increased by almost 50% to 1.2 thousand, Alexander Shcherbatov, HEAD of the territorial department of Rospotrebnadzor, announced this at an operational meeting in the regional government.

“In a week, 1,199 cases were established, which is almost 50% more than the previous week,” Shcherbatov said, TASS quoted.

He added that the increase in the incidence of coronavirus in the region is the fourth week. Last week, the increase was almost 80% to 806 cases, a week earlier - 20%.

As of August 14, since the beginning of the pandemic, 263.6 thousand cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the Novosibirsk Region (+180 per day), including 39.3 thousand in children. 256 thousand patients have fully recovered.

According to Shcherbatov, 70% of the cases are in the region, the prevalence rate has increased to 1.26. Mostly the disease proceeds in a mild form. Now the resumption of restrictive measures, he added, is not required, but it is necessary to ensure the necessary level of testing, the maintenance of the mask regime in social institutions and the disinfection of public places.

“I have already expressed my opinion that the mask should be a seasonal accessory,” said Andrey Travnikov, Governor of the Novosibirsk Region.
