Olympic champion Alexei Yagudin believes that the words of figure skater Elizaveta Nugumanova about harassment by the coaching staff are associated with the lack of positive results for the athlete.
“Tatyana Anatolyevna Tarasova said: “You should not give a reason.” I completely agree with her. You need to work, train, listen to advice from the coaching staff and achieve results. And when there is no result, they begin to look for the guilty in everyone except themselves, ”Yagudin told RBC Sport.
Tarasova doubted Nugumanova's words about bullying in Rukavitsyn's team
The winner of the stages of the Grand Prix among juniors, 19-year-old Elizaveta Nugumanova, said that the team of her coach Evgeny Rukavitsyn repeatedly allowed herself to insult her. “The team often told me that I was fat, that nothing would work out for me,” the athlete said.
She emphasized that physically she cannot be “so thin, thin and beautiful” like Anna Shcherbakova or Kamila Valieva. “In the end, I lost weight, of course, but you can’t cross the line,” the skater said.
At the 2021 Russian Championships, Nugumanova placed sixth. Also, the skater was announced as a substitute for the 2021 World Figure Skating Championships in Stockholm.
Rukavitsyn is a coach who specializes in single skating. Known for his work with Konstantin Menshov, Alena Leonova, Dmitry Aliev and Ksenia Makarova.
