Dmitry Zhebelev, a freelance adviser to the Governor of the Perm Territory on social issues, in an interview with RBC Perm, noted the extremely difficult situation with the occupancy of beds for patients with covid in the Kama region. According to him, the situation can be described as "the worst in the entire time of the pandemic." Zhebelev also once again emphasized the backlog in vaccination.
“Now there is a difficult situation with free beds, the worst in the entire time of the pandemic. Less than 10% free beds despite the fact that the maximum is open. The second indicator is excess mortality. All this is absolutely not a joke in terms of assessing the risks of a person for themselves. As for QR codes, it is still difficult to say something about them, because the main task is to increase the number of vaccinated people, and whether QR codes will help with this or not, we will not find out for sure in a week. Hundreds of thousands of people need to be vaccinated, and the pace is such that it will still take months, and during these months several thousand more people who could have survived will die. Therefore, the main thing, probably, in terms of increasing the number of vaccinated people is to provide honest information about the safety and effectiveness of vaccination and about the risks that may be,
Dmitry Zhebelev noted that the Perm Territory should not blindly focus on other regions in its plans to introduce restrictions. The adviser to the governor cited the Republic of Tatarstan as an example, where the situation with excess mortality is much worse than in the Perm Territory. Dmitry Zhebelev believes that if the same measures were taken in the Perm Territory as in Tatarstan, and most importantly, people behaved the same way as in Tatarstan, then several thousand more people would die in the Perm Territory.
In addition, according to him, in Tatarstan they reported the number of people who died from the CORONAVIRUS and the data there differ by an incredible number of times from the data on excess mortality. That is, the inhabitants of the region were misled about the danger of the virus. According to Zhebelev, the situation in the Perm Territory is also not ideal, but much better. In terms of the same excess mortality, the Perm Territory looks much better than Tatarstan. Even better than many other regions where there are million-plus cities. Therefore, the Kama region should be guided not by the experience of other regions in terms of the measures being introduced, but by the experience of scientific research and the experience of other countries where the virus has been dealt with.
“There are two options here: restrictions and vaccination. The most effective are the restrictions on mass events, we have introduced them. Also, this is distance learning for schoolchildren and students, this measure has been introduced partially and it is not entirely clear how it is possible to introduce it from a political or social point of view. From a HEALTH standpoint, this is essential. And restrictions in enclosed spaces, to which catering applies. This is what allowed other countries to get through the epidemic better than us. The most important thing is vaccination. If someone doubts the work of vaccines, then look at Israel, Denmark or Iceland, where almost all restrictions have already been lifted, and the number of deaths is several times less than ours. Now there are a lot of funny statements on the topic that the increase in the incidence is associated with an increase in vaccination, so it is very easy to refute. A more or less mass vaccination in the Perm Territory began in January, and an increase in the incidence in July, and its only reason is that a more contagious strain of the virus has come to the region. If we have to focus on someone, then on the Belgorod region. They are the first in the level of vaccination among the regions of RUSSIA. And this was done in a very simple way: they simply began to pay extra to doctors for fulfilling the vaccination plan. And all of a sudden, all personal convictions and distrust of vaccines disappeared, and the Belgorod region became the first in Russia in terms of the share of those vaccinated,” Zhebelev said.
