
More than 15 million people have been infected with COVID-19 worldwide over the past week, this is the maximum for the entire time of the pandemic. This is stated in the report on the website of the World HEALTH Organization.
In just a week, WHO recorded 15,154,666 detected cases of CORONAVIRUS infection and 43,461 dead patients.
Compared to the previous week, the incidence increased by 55%, while mortality remained almost unchanged. According to WHO, all regions reported an increase in the number of infected, with the exception of Africa, where the incidence decreased by 11%. In Southeast Asia, the increase in new cases of coronavirus infection was the highest, it jumped by 418% last week. It is followed by the Western Pacific Region with 122%.
The number of deaths increased significantly in Africa (up 84%) and the Americas (up 26%), while in Europe the death rate decreased by 10%, in South-East Asia by 6%, and in the Eastern Mediterranean by 11%.
