Over the past day in France, more than 100 thousand people fell ill with coronavirus, which was a record since the beginning of the pandemic. This follows from the data of the sanitary-medical agency Santé publique France.

According to the latest data from the agency, 104,611 new cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in France during the day on December 25 .

The previous record was set on December 24, when 94,124 residents of France fell ill with coronavirus per day, the Ouest-France newspaper reported.

At the end of November, France introduced new restrictive measures in connection with the increase in the incidence of coronavirus, which the country's authorities call the "fifth wave". For example, the validity of a PCR test has been reduced to 24 hours, while previously it was possible to visit public places with a negative PCR test for 72 hours.
