As the press service of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan reported today, on August 19, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan issued a resolution where citizens were recommended to use masks not only in medical institutions, but also in public places and in transport.

According to the head of Rospotrebnadzor for the Republic of Tatarstan, Marina Patyashina, the authorities advise strengthening infection prevention measures due to the worsening sanitary and epidemiological situation with COVID-19 . The number of patients has doubled. In August, their number exceeded the July figures.

Last month, an average of 42 cases of infection were recorded per day, in August the figure rose to 78.

“This is a completely expected growth, caused by a mutation of the virus. The infection is spreading rapidly, the number of cases will increase,” said Patyashina.

The mask regime, which has been in force in the Republic of Tatarstan since the spring of 2020, has ceased to be mandatory from June 6, 2021. The authorities have repeatedly stressed that this is not about its final abolition, but about its suspension.
