According to him, the risk of re-infection with the XBB variant of the omicron strain, according to preliminary data, may be higher compared to other circulating substrains of the strain.

Khafizov emphasized that, as of November 1, no XBB variant of the omicron strain of coronavirus was detected in Russia.

In mid-December, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, reported that there was a seasonal rise in the incidence of coronavirus in the country. In addition, in Russia there is also an increase in the incidence of influenza and SARS. “The transmission routes are the same,” she stressed.
