US authorities see no need for third dose of COVID-19

People who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 do not need a third, so-called booster shot, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) say in a joint statement. , reports Axios.

“Americans who have been fully vaccinated do not currently need a third shot. The FDA, CDC, and [National Institutes of Health] are engaged in a scientific and rigorous process to consider whether and when it may be needed,” they said.

The CDC and FDA noted that vaccinated people are protected from severe illness and death, "including the consequences of infection with strains currently circulating in the country, such as Delta (Indian strain - RBC)."
