The government has developed a response plan in the event of the spread of the omicron strain of CORONAVIRUS in RUSSIA, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said during a speech in the State Duma, RIA Novosti reports.

“On behalf of the President of the country, we developed an additional response plan in the event of the spread of “omicron”, and it was sent to the corresponding report,” she said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss a plan to counter the new variant of covid-19 with members of the government on December 14, his spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier.

Omicron was discovered in South Africa and Botswana in November. On December 12, the World HEALTH Organization announced that cases of infection with a new strain were detected in 63 countries.
