
In Moscow, 1,241 cases of infection with the Omicron strain of covid-19 were registered , the Moscow department of Rospotrebnadzor reported.
According to the agency, 78.6% of those infected with the new strain (976 people) did not travel outside the city and region. Another 21.4% of cases (265 cases) are imported and associated with trips abroad.
Most imported cases of infection with this variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus were detected among tourists returning from Turkey (16%), the United Arab Emirates (11%) and the Dominican Republic (9%). Another 1.4% accounted for those who came from Egypt. The rest are connected with trips to France, Hungary, Great Britain, Cuba, Spain, Croatia and other countries.
There are no cases of omicron among children, the department noted.
Sobyanin warned of a two-fold increase in the incidence of "omicron" Society
