After the new restrictions announced by the Moscow authorities, the Russian Council of Shopping Centers (RSTC) asked not to close the food courts in the shopping center. Oleg Voitsekhovsky, DIRECTOR of the council, sent a corresponding appeal to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, RBC got acquainted with a copy of the document.
A few hours after the release of the material, Voitsekhovsky told RBC that they had withdrawn the letter addressed to Sobyanin “due to the inconsistency of the position of the RSTC management bodies with the text of the letter sent to the mayor.” Why RSTC decided to change its position after sending the letter, the representative of the Union did not explain.
On Saturday, Sobyanin announced new restrictions in connection with the increase in the incidence of CORONAVIRUS. In particular, the days from June 15 to June 19 are declared non-working, the weekend will thus last from June 12 to 20, and food courts in the shopping center will be suspended from June 13 to 20.
The organization called for food courts to be allowed to continue operating with the restrictions necessary to ensure that “being in the appropriate areas of shopping centers is no more dangerous in terms of the spread of a new coronavirus infection than visiting retail outlets.” RSTC added that they are ready to provide expert support from Moscow shopping centers.
