it is still premature to talk about an increase in mortality amid the spread of the covid-19 omicron strain  and to name the timing of death from it, and on average people die from CORONAVIRUS within three weeks, experts interviewed explained to RBC.

“Sometimes people die in the first days of the disease, sometimes the disease drags on for several months or weeks. Three weeks is the arithmetic average, like the temperature in the hospital, ”said the infectious disease specialist, MD Nikolai Malyshev.

He recalled that for each patient with coronavirus, the period of death after infection is unknown. And he advised not to make a diagnosis on his own, since a person cannot understand for himself that he is seriously ill.

Chepurnov stressed that the statistics take into account only those patients who died as a result of the disease itself, and not from complications. But a significant part of people after treatment in the hospital die at home from post-covid syndrome.
