Vector and KemGMU intend to investigate substances for the drug from COVID-19

The State Scientific Center for Virology and Biotechnology "Vector" together with the Kemerovo State Medical University agreed to work together to find new compounds with antiviral properties.

“High-class specialists and unique modern expert-class equipment of the KemGMU will allow joint developments to reach another level. The cooperation agreement includes the search for new groups of compounds with antiviral activity. Especially these studies will be relevant for the development of new drugs for the treatment of covid-19, ”the press service of the administration of the Kemerovo region quotes Governor Sergei Tsivilev.

Vector and KemGMU already have a positive experience of working together. In 2012, the KemGMU isolated, purified and preparatively accumulated melanins from natural and cultivated samples of chaga (birch fungus), and Vector specialists for the first time established their antiretroviral activity.

In 2020, Vector specialists developed one of the Russian vaccines against COVID-19 .
