The vaccine "KoviVak", developed by the Center. Chumakov, entered the capital's medical institutions, RBC was informed about this in the press service of the city's HEALTH department. The department clarified that 3,000 doses of CoviVac are now available, and vaccination with the drug will begin in the near future at several vaccination centers.

The vaccination campaign in Moscow has been going on since December 2020, initially only people from risk groups who are in contact with a large number of people at work could receive the vaccine: medical workers, employees of educational institutions, etc. Since January, mass vaccination has started in RUSSIA.

Initially, the Moscow authorities reported that only Sputnik V was used for vaccination and no other drugs were planned to be provided to the population. In mid-May, Anastasia Rakova, deputy mayor of the capital for social development, announced that in addition to Sputnik V, EpiVacKorona, developed at the Vector Research Center in Novosibirsk, became available in all clinics.

Earlier, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin complained that, despite the announced mass vaccination, the percentage of those vaccinated in Moscow is less than in any European city. He also said that neither the fact that the vaccine is free, nor stimulus measures, such as payments to pensioners, correct the situation. For all the time in Moscow, 1.3 million people out of 12 million inhabitants were vaccinated. According to the mayor, this is "a decent figure, but it could be at least twice as much."
