South Africa tightens quarantine measures due to Delta strain of coronavirus

In the Republic of South Africa, quarantine measures have been tightened due to the spread of the new delta CORONAVIRUS strain and the country is moving to the fourth level of danger, said President Cyril Ramaphosa. His words are given on the website of the Ministry of HEALTH of South Africa.

“All gatherings – indoors and out – are prohibited. This includes religious, political, cultural and social gatherings,” Ramaphosa said.

The number of people present at the funeral will be limited to 50 people. At the same time, any meetings after the funeral ceremony are prohibited.

All employers should allow their employees to work from home if they do not need to be present at the workplace. Outside of work, only family members will be allowed to meet.

Restaurants and other catering establishments can only work for take-out or delivery.

In addition, the country has a curfew from 21:00 to 04:00. During this time, only employees who have the appropriate permission will be able to be on the street. The sale of ALCOHOL will be prohibited.

All these measures will be in effect from June 28 to July 11.

In addition, starting from June 30, all schools in the country will be closed.

Ramaphosa also said that amid the outbreak of the Delta strain, South Africa is going through a third wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the South African Ministry of Health, in the day leading up to June 27, 15,036 new cases of covid-19 infection and 122 deaths were detected in the country. Over the entire period of the pandemic, more than 1.9 million people were infected with coronavirus, more than 1.7 million were cured. 59,900 people died during this time.

In October last year, a new strain of COVID-19, Delta, was identified in India. On June 20, 2021, the Indian authorities announced a new strain mutation. The World Health Organization has admitted that countries will have to introduce a new lockdown due to a new type of coronavirus.
