“Unvaccinated people are the main spreader of the virus. We encourage everyone who is eligible to be vaccinated to take advantage of this opportunity. <...> This is especially important for priority groups, such as people aged 60 years and older, as well as people with weakened immune systems,” the bureau said.

The interlocutor of the agency added that wearing masks, hand and respiratory hygiene, physical distancing and ventilation of premises, according to most studies, are also effective preventive measures. In addition, the WHO recalled that regular testing and contact tracing with sick people "provide maximum protection for society from the virus."

On November 21, WHO Regional DIRECTOR Hans Kluge said that 500,000 people could die from CORONAVIRUS infection in Europe during this winter. According to him, careful observance of the mask regime and an increase in the rate of vaccination can improve the situation.
