The first cases of infection with the omicron strain of CORONAVIRUS were detected in Turkey, said the country's Minister of HEALTH Fahrettin Koca, reports the Daily Sabah.

Authorities recorded one of the cases of infection in Istanbul and five others in the western province of Izmir, the minister said. According to him, the sick do not need hospitalization. He added that "omicron" seems to be "softer" compared to previous strains.

“It is necessary that our citizens continue to observe precautionary measures further,” Koca stressed.
