According to the press service of the Tatarstan department of Rospotrebnadzor, all the first 11 cases of infection with the omicron strain of coronavirus were laboratory confirmed. They were identified at the Microbe Institute in Saratov, where samples taken from patients are sent for analysis. 

Nine cases are imported. Of these, five are from foreign countries (two from Iraq, the United States (Virgin Islands), Croatia, Mexico), four from other regions of the Russian Federation, and two are local.

In eight, the disease proceeds according to the type of SARS. Three are asymptomatic carriers.

“A complex of anti-epidemic measures is being carried out in the outbreaks. All patients are isolated and doing well. Contact persons with patients were established - 59 people. All contacts have been examined. No cases were identified among contact persons. The situation is under the control of the operational headquarters of the republic,” the press service of Rospotrebnadzor for the Republic of Tatarstan reports. 

Today, the HEAD of the country's operational headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova, said at a meeting of the Presidium of the Coordinating Council for Combating covid-19 that 1682 cases of infection with the omicron strain have been detected in the Russian Federation in 42 regions. At the same time, 60% of infections occur in the delta strain. Omicron dominates, according to Golikova, in Moscow, the Moscow region and St. Petersburg
