Since May 31, the Azerbaijani authorities have resumed the operation of the Baku metro, which was closed for more than six months due to the CORONAVIRUS. This decision was made last week by the operational headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic, Haqqin reports.

The Baku Metro has not received passengers since October 2020 after the tightening of quarantine measures. This is the third restriction of his work during the pandemic. During the non-working period, the metro infrastructure was checked under normal operation conditions, Trend reported. For the third time, the operation of the metro is limited during the pandemic: before it was closed in the spring and summer of 2020 for a total of more than three months.

At the same time, the subway, along with other public transport, will not work on weekends, Ibrahim Mammadov, HEAD of the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, said.

In May, all public transport in Azerbaijan stopped working for a week from 9 to 16. These days were declared non-working due to public holidays. The Haqqin publication noted that Azerbaijanis are only entitled to use personal transport and taxis, which caused an increase in the number of illegal private carriers.
