The US said they would like to see Zelensky at the G20 summit in India

US authorities positively assess the possibility of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's participation at the G20 summit in India to continue work on resolving the conflict, said Jake Sullivan, adviser to the American leader.

“From our point of view, any time President Zelensky has an opportunity to speak to any organization or group [of people], it plays a positive role,” Sullivan said, responding to a question about whether the US was disappointed that Zelensky they were not invited to the summit ( quote from TASS ).

According to Sullivan, in August, at a meeting held in Saudi Arabia, many of the "key G20 countries" met with representatives of the Ukrainian side to "discuss the principles of a just and lasting peace." He noted that, according to the US authorities, “Zelensky’s presence, some of his role at the G20” would be positive.

India is presiding over an informal grouping of the world's largest economies this year. The G20 summit will be held in New Delhi on September 9–10 in person.

On August 14, Special Secretary of the Indian G20 Presidency Miktesh Pardeshi said that Ukraine was not included in the list of countries invited to the summit. At the same time, Algeria, Egypt and Bangladesh have been invited to the meeting, he specified. Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar announced the same decision in early June.

Jaishankar later said that the G20 should not be involved in the Russian-Ukrainian settlement. India views the G20 as an international forum with a focus on global growth and believes its focus should remain that way, he added.
