In Slovakia, announced the imminent readiness of the gas pipeline from Poland

The pipeline, which will bring LNG from Poland to Slovakia, will soon be completed, after which test work will begin, the Slovak Ministry of Economy said.

According to him, the last works are being completed now. “After testing, it will be able to fully contribute to ensuring the diversification of resource sources and ensuring the energy security of Slovakia,” the ministry said in a statement.

The gas pipeline will link the Polish and Slovak gas transmission systems. According to EUStream, the GTS operator in Slovakia, the pipeline could provide Poland with access to supplies from the so-called Southern Corridor, which carries gas from the Caspian Sea region, as well as to supplies from the Adriatic Sea region.

The pipeline was conceived as a two-way one: in the direction from Poland to Slovakia, its capacity will be 4.7 billion cubic meters. m per year, from Slovakia to Poland - 5.7 billion cubic meters. m per year. The length of the gas pipeline is 164 km, of which 103 km are on the Slovak side, 61 km are on the Polish side.

Slovakia previously announced that it would pay for Russian gas in euros in the second half of May. At the same time, Prime Minister Eduard Heger argued that even if supplies were stopped, the country's population would be provided with gas reserves until at least 2023.

However, Slovakia needs to find a permanent source of gas and overcome its dependence on Russian energy resources as soon as possible, he stressed.
