Roszdravnadzor has registered Russia's first test system for detecting the omicron CORONAVIRUS strain, the press service of the Federal Medical Biological Agency (FMBA) reports.
“The first test system for detecting the omicron strain of covid-19 has been registered in RUSSIA . The set of reagents was developed on behalf of Veronika Skvortsova, HEAD of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia <...> and is intended for use in clinical laboratory diagnostics of acute respiratory infections for the study of RNA samples from human biological material obtained from individuals who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, ”says in a message posted on the FMBA website.
“The developed set of reagents allows one and a half hours with high sensitivity to detect and differentiate genovariants of the omicron and delta viruses in one test tube,” said German Shipulin, Deputy DIRECTOR of the CSP FMBA.
According to him, the system will allow, against the background of the "lightning spread" of the new strain, to establish monitoring of its circulation.
