In addition, 51,269 new cases of COVID-19 were detected per day, 3,528 people were hospitalized.

According to the headquarters, since the beginning of the pandemic in Russia, COVID-19 has been diagnosed in 20.74 million people, 386,662 people have died. Rosstat counted 823.6 thousand deaths with coronavirus for all time, while the statistical service also takes into account those for whom COVID-19 was not the main cause of death.

In Moscow, over the past 24 hours, 4,101 cases have been identified, 247 people have been hospitalized, 31 have died. In general, in the capital during the spread of the coronavirus, 3.17 million people became infected, 45.8 thousand died.

In St. Petersburg, 3,787 people passed a positive test for COVID-19 per day (a total of 1.74 million fell ill), 221 people were hospitalized. Also, 18 patients died (a total of 35.1 thousand).

In the Moscow region, 1,655 new infections were registered (1.09 million in total), 129 patients were hospitalized, no one died (a total of 15.3 thousand have died since the beginning of the pandemic).

The chief infectious disease specialist of the Ministry of HEALTH, Vladimir Chulanov, reported that there was a possibility of increasing the daily incidence rate to 100,000, but the expert refused to predict whether this would happen. He also recalled the need to get vaccinated against the flu against the backdrop of its spread in the fall, as well as against covid.

In turn, experts interviewed by RBC do not expect Russia to experience a significant increase in deaths from coronavirus. In their opinion, a decline in this indicator should begin in the foreseeable future.
