In Russia, 8.5 thousand cases of COVID-19 were detected per day

Over the past 24 hours, 8,554 people in 84 regions have been infected with CORONAVIRUS in RUSSIA, according to the operational headquarters for combating the disease. The number of infected since the beginning of the pandemic in Russia has reached 4.94 million.

Most of the new covid-19 infections per day were detected in Moscow - 2.7 thousand people. In St. Petersburg , 767 people were diagnosed with coronavirus, and 672 people in the Moscow region. Also, the top five regions in terms of daily increase in infected people included the Rostov and Nizhny Novgorod regions (203 and 138 cases, respectively). The smallest increase was registered in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (two) and the Jewish Autonomous Region (one).

Also, over the past 24 hours, 391 deaths have been recorded in the country, in total, 115.8 thousand people with confirmed COVID-19 have died since the beginning of the spread of the infection, the operational headquarters reports. These data differ from Rosstat’s estimates, according to which the total number of deaths in Russia has approached 250,000. The agency takes into account those who were diagnosed with coronavirus after death, as well as those who died from other pathologies that worsened against the background of COVID-19.
