Over the past day in RUSSIA, 14,937 people were hospitalized with covid-19, which is 73% more than the day before (8632). At the same time, 543 people infected with COVID-19 got into hospitals in Moscow, which is slightly more than the day before (it was 505), when the number of hospitalizations in the capital dropped to a minimum since the beginning of 2022.
Over the same day, 123,460 new cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in Russia, this is the minimum number since January 30. Compared to the previous day, the number of infections decreased by 9.5 thousand, or 7.2%. The sharp decrease in the detected infection rate is taking place against the backdrop of a noticeable decrease in the number of tests for coronavirus: according to Rospotrebnadzor, 429,000 tests were done in the country over the past 24 hours, and 532,000 a day earlier.
St. Petersburg again became the leader in the number of infections, where 7572 patients were detected over the past day. But Moscow hardly even got into the top 10: only 3333 infections were recorded here per day, so the capital took only sixth place in the ranking of regions. In the top 5, along with St. Petersburg, were:
Novosibirsk region - 4796; Krasnoyarsk Territory - 4759; Sverdlovsk region - 4544; Samara region - 4218.Most infections, according to Rospotrebnadzor, are caused by the omicron strain. Based on the results of sequencing of 8242 samples from February 17 to February 24, 77.5% of the samples belong to the "omicron", 21.8% - to the "delta", another 0.7% - to other strains of COVID-19.
