In Russia, over the past day, 23,771 new cases of coronavirus have been identified, 2,666 people have been hospitalized, the federal operational headquarters said. The number of new patients reached its highest since March 26, when the infection was detected in 24,072 people.

The number of hospitalizations increased by 3.6% compared to August 9, when 2574 people were taken to hospitals. 56 patients died (60 people a day earlier).

Most of the cases per day were found in the following regions of the country:

Moscow - 8608; St. Petersburg - 2894; Moscow region - 1524; Krasnodar Territory - 775.

In total, more than 18.77 million cases of coronavirus have been detected in Russia since the beginning of the pandemic, 382,902 patients have died, according to the operational headquarters.
