The daily increase of more than 30 thousand people infected with coronavirus in Russia is observed for the second day in a row - 33,106 new cases were recorded the day before. The surge in the incidence of COVID-19 occurred a few days after the lifting of anti-COVID restrictions in Russia in early July. The level of herd immunity has also decreased in the country - from the target of 80%, it has now fallen to 7.4%.
The HEAD of the Russian Ministry of HEALTH, Mikhail Murashko, called the increase in the incidence of the “next stage” of the pandemic and called for the mask regime to be observed again and to be re-vaccinated. In some regions, they decided to return the requirement to wear masks in public places (for example, in Buryatia), in other regions (St. Petersburg, the Altai Republic), the measure is still advisory in nature. At the same time, the head of the Kemerovo region, Sergei Tsivilev, said that they did not plan to return anti-covid restrictions in the region, since the death rate from covid remains low, and the disease is mild.
Rospotrebnadzor believes that at the federal level the situation with the incidence is not critical and there is no need to introduce restrictions. However, the agency recommended wearing masks in public places in regions where the weekly incidence rate exceeds 50 cases per 100,000 population.
