In Russia, developed a test system for antibodies to "omicron"

Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamalei has developed a test system for detecting virus-neutralizing antibodies to the omicron strain, Alexander Gintsburg, DIRECTOR of the center, told RIA Novosti.

“We have a test system for determining virus-neutralizing antibodies to omicron, but so far it is available only at our center,” the scientist said.

Earlier, on January 14, Gunzburg announced that he was infected with the omicron strain of CORONAVIRUS, but did not get sick with covid-19 . He then clarified that he learned about the infection using a special test that he did after a trip abroad. According to the scientist, the test results showed very high titers of virus-neutralizing omicron antibodies. However, he did not feel any symptoms of COVID-19.

The first cases of omicron infection in RUSSIA were detected in early December last year. According to Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, by January 14, the number of people infected with this variant in Russia exceeded 700 people.
