Rospotrebnadzor reported an increase in the proportion of cases of COVID-19 among children

In RUSSIA, with the spread of the omicron strain, the proportion of children with CORONAVIRUS increased from 10 to 15%. This was reported to RIA Novosti by Deputy DIRECTOR of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology (TsNIIE) of Rospotrebnadzor Alexander Gorelov.

According to the specialist, children were also infected with previous strains, but then the frequency was 10-11%. “In relation to the “omicron”, data come in that children are involved in the epidemiological process in 15% of cases,” Gorelov said.

The frequency of involving children in the epidemiological process suggests that "omicron" is more contagious for all age categories, the expert noted.

From Monday, January 24, in the Moscow region, vaccination against coronavirus of adolescents aged 12 to 17 began. Vaccinations will be given with a two-component vaccine "Sputnik M" of the Gamaleya Center. The second component will be administered three weeks after the first.
