Rospotrebnadzor told when to expect the peak incidence of COVID-19

In the Kaliningrad region, the peak of the next wave of covid-19 is expected in August. Klops writes about this with reference to the regional Rospotrebnadzor.

“There is another rise in the number of CORONAVIRUS infections in the context of the ongoing pandemic. <...> Genomic monitoring indicates a change in the circulating sub-variants of the Omicron strain, which determines the rise in incidence. The omicron sub-lineages BA5 and BA4 currently dominate. These sublines are more contagious, but do not cause a rapid increase in hospitalization, as was the case in previous rises. <...> it is likely that the peak of the next wave will be reached in August, ”the supervisory agency said in a statement.

It is emphasized that for now additional strict restrictions will not be introduced. People with chronic diseases are advised to wear masks in public places and use antiseptics. It is also suggested to undergo revaccination if more than six months have passed since the last vaccination.

As RBC Kaliningrad previously wrote, according to the regional Rospotrebnadzor, 570 cases of COVID-19 were registered in the region over the past week. In comparison with week 29, the incidence increased by 42.3% (at week 28, the increase was 75%).
