Rospotrebnadzor assessed the risk of spreading black mold

In RUSSIA, one should not be afraid of the spread of the so-called black mold, since India has a different climatic zone and a different food culture, said Alexander Gorelov, deputy DIRECTOR for scientific work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier it was reported that the Indian authorities have identified in the country more than 8.8 thousand cases of mucormycosis - a fungal disease, better known as black mold.

“I think we don’t need to be afraid of black mold,” Gorelov said.

He explained that Russia and India have different climates, as well as more vegetarians, which does not help strengthen their immunity.

Gorelov clarified that black mold appears in any immunodeficiency states and the covid-19 epidemic , among other things, may be associated with an outbreak of mycormycosis. According to him, it is not possible to talk about how the Indian strain will behave in Russia. “We report daily, weekly to the CORONAVIRUS headquarters,” the epidemiologist added.
