Rospotrebnadzor assessed the risk of re-infection due to "omicron"

The risk of contracting an omicron in those who have been ill is about 15-20%, while earlier the figure was less than 1-2%, said Natalya Pshenichnaya, deputy DIRECTOR for clinical and analytical work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, TASS writes.

“The chance of contracting an omicron after a person has been ill with another [coronavirus] variant, such as delta, according to South African experts, is approximately 15-20%, while previously the chance of re-development of the disease was less than 1-2%,” Wheat said.

According to her, those who have recovered from covid-19 tolerate Omicron mostly asymptomatically or with symptoms of SARS. Some people develop nasal congestion, which can be accompanied by general weakness, muscle and joint pain, headache, runny nose, sore throat, and sometimes dry cough. The temperature in this case can be both normal and elevated - 38–38.5 degrees.

At the same time, those who have been vaccinated or have been ill for a long time may have more serious symptoms, Pshenichnaya added.
