24 athletes from the Kama region were included in the expanded squad for the Olympics

The expanded team of Russia at the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing included 24 athletes from the Perm Territory, and 9 of them were in the main team. This was reported by the press service of the regional government.

Key athletes included: Maria Istomina (cross-country skiing), Evgeny Klimov (ski jumping), Tatiana Ivanova and Ekaterina Katnikova (luge), and the full Russian freestyle team, including Anastasia Smirnova, Victoria Lazarenko , Anastasia Pervushina and Polina Chudinova.

Biathlete Valeria Vasnetsova also entered the main team, however, after two positive tests for COVID-19 , she will not be able to take part in international competitions.

Also, the Perm pair Yulia Artemyeva and Mikhail Nazarychev entered the expanded composition of the Olympic figure skating team. They are declared in the reserve of the Russian team.

Earlier, RBC Perm reported that 26 athletes from the Perm Territory were contenders for participation in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Among 26 athletes, 9 people represent freestyle, 6 people - figure skating, 5 - luge. Two people each from biathlon and Nordic combined and one person each representing cross-country skiing and ski jumping.
