First direct flight from Moscow lands in Pyongyang

The first direct flight from Moscow landed in Pyongyang, RIA Novosti reports.

The Nordwind Airlines plane landed at 3:30 Moscow time, and the passengers were ceremoniously greeted at the airport. The flight took about eight hours.

A Russian delegation headed by the HEAD of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Alexander Kozlov, arrived in the North Korean capital on this flight; the officials and crew members were presented with flowers, the agency writes.

On the Russian side, Kozlov heads the intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation with the DPRK.

The plane to Pyongyang departed on the evening of July 27 from Moscow's Sheremetyevo. The flight was made by a Boeing 777-200ER with a capacity of 440 passengers. The return flight will be made on July 29, and then the frequency of flights will be approximately one flight per month.

Direct flights between RUSSIA and North Korea were interrupted during the pandemiccovid-19 . In August 2023, North Korean airline Air Koryo resumed flights to Vladivostok. Tickets could only be purchased as part of a sightseeing tour.
