In the Kama region, the number of consumer loans issued has sharply decreased

The number of issued consumer loans in the Perm Territory decreased by 15%. In February this year, banks in the Perm Territory issued 19.5 thousand consumer loans. Such data is provided by the National Bureau of Credit Histories.

In total, in Russia last month, banks issued a little more than a million consumer loans, which is 14.5% less than in the same period last year. Most of these financial products were issued by banks in Moscow, the Moscow Region and the Krasnodar Territory. The top 10 regions in terms of the number of issued consumer loans also included the Republic of Tatarstan, Sverdlovsk, Rostov, Chelyabinsk and Samara regions. The Perm Territory is ranked 16th in this ranking.

“The number of consumer loans issued in the country began to decline. At the same time, this trend has not yet been observed in February in the largest regions (Moscow, Moscow region and St. Petersburg), where, on the contrary, an increase in unsecured lending was noted. The general decline in issuance of consumer loans was the result not so much of the general deterioration in economic conditions at the end of February, but the continuing trend of the conservative attitude of banks towards the issuance of unsecured loans. But in the coming months, the growth in rates as a result of sanctions pressure will become a determining factor for the credit market, where a significant decline comparable to the spring of 2020 can be expected. Nevertheless, measures to support borrowers taken by the regulator and banks will have a smoothing effect,” says Alexei Volkov, Marketing Director of the NBKI.
