In Bialystok in northeastern Poland, a Russian and a Belarusian were detained on charges of spying for foreign intelligence, the tvp.info portal reports, citing the Warsaw district prosecutor's office.
They were detained on 21-22 April by the military police. “They were involved in espionage activities in the interests of Russian intelligence. Both suspects have lived in Poland for many years,” said Alexandra Skrzyniarz, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office. According to her, they collected information about military facilities, their location, equipment, as well as about the military units of the allies.
“A Russian and a Belarusian, acting in the interests of Russian intelligence against Poland, carried out activities aimed at studying the functioning of the Polish Armed Forces,” said the spokesman for the coordinating minister of the Polish special services.

The Russian and Belarusian have already been charged and arrested. They face up to ten years in prison.

In mid-April, another Russian was detained in Poland, who, according to the prosecutor's office, was collecting information about military units on its territory. Stanislav Zharin, spokesman for the Coordinating Minister of the Secret Services, specified that he "received information about the combat readiness of the Polish Armed Forces and NATO troops at the request of the Russian special services."
