The Office of Rospotrebnadzor in St. Petersburg is not yet considering the introduction of mandatory vaccination against covid-19 for certain categories of citizens. “Today, there is no such document under development,” TASS quotes the press service of the department. The press service of the city administration, in turn, explained that in this matter they will rely on the recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor.
The question of the possibility of compulsory vaccination, we recall, arose after such a measure was taken in Moscow and the Moscow region. RBC Petersburg sent a request to the St. Petersburg Department of Rospotrebnadzor and the Committee on Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade of St. Petersburg with a request to tell under what kind of worsening of the epidemiological situation in the city it is possible to introduce mandatory vaccination for trade, catering and service workers in the "Moscow sample."
As RBC previously reported, today, on June 16, the chief sanitary DOCTOR of Moscow, Elena Andreeva, signed a resolution in which she described the situation with COVID-19 in the capital as unfavorable. In accordance with this, she obliged to vaccinate 60% of citizens working in certain segments of the economy. In particular, employees of both public and private organizations working in the areas of trade, fitness and beauty salons, catering, personal services (laundries, dry cleaners), public transport and taxis, education, healthcare will have to be vaccinated against the CORONAVIRUS without fail. and social security, housing and communal services and energy, as well as sports and cultural institutions and in the entertainment sector. In addition, officials and municipal employees should be vaccinated. A similar decision was made in the Moscow region.

400 thousand people work in the sphere of trade and services in St. Petersburg. With the introduction of a standard similar to the Moscow one in 60% of those vaccinated against coronavirus, 240 thousand citizens would have to be vaccinated. This could drastically improve the vaccination statistics. Since the start of mass vaccination in early 2021, 756,657 people have been vaccinated in St. Petersburg. Of these, 634,130 have completed the vaccination cycle, consisting of two vaccinations (according to June 15 from the city headquarters).
Over the past day, 927 new cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in the city. The last time the city passed the mark of 900 cases daily was in mid-March. In total, since the beginning of the pandemic in St. Petersburg , there have been 453,424 cases of COVID-19 infection. 15,062 people died, including 63 in a day.
