Restrictions introduced due to the spread of coronavirus will continue to apply in St. Petersburg until the end of 2024 , according to the resolution posted on the city government website.

“Introduce the following changes to the St. Petersburg government decree of March 13, 2020 No. 121 “On measures to counter the spread of a new coronavirus infection in St. Petersburg”: in paragraph 2.1 of the decree, replace the words “by 03/31/2024” with the words “by 12/31/2024” , the document says.

In particular, the ban on holding sports, physical education, cultural, entertainment, congress and exhibition, ceremonial, leisure and other events with more than 300 people, except those approved by the city government, has been extended.

In addition, several points on the organization of sanatorium-resort treatment during a pandemic, vaccination of enterprise employees, and the responsibility of heads of executive authorities , government agencies and city enterprises for the implementation of the orders of the chief sanitary doctor were excluded from the resolution.

Anti-coronavirus restrictions were introduced in St. Petersburg shortly after the start of the pandemic. Subsequently, the measures were weakened more than once and tightened again as the situation worsened. In February, the city lifted the requirement to wear masks for visitors to social and medical institutions.

According to the latest data from the operational headquarters, from March 18 to March 24, 209 people were hospitalized with coronavirus in St. Petersburg. In total, 24.9 thousand cases of the disease have been identified across Russia, including about 2.5 thousand in the Northern capital.
