The Perm Krai Ministry of Education has denied reports that schoolchildren are being transferred to distance learning due to the new CORONAVIRUS strain, the regional control center's press service reported.
They noted that information was actively spreading on social media and messaging apps that "schools will switch to distance learning in the first month of school" due to the "stratus" coronavirus strain. These reports are untrue, the Center notes.
"The planned ceremonial assemblies will take place on September 1, and the school year will also resume as usual in all schools, with the exception of buildings undergoing major renovations," the department clarified.
The epidemiological situation is being monitored by the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor and does not raise concerns, and no cases of stratus infection have been identified in the region, the Center for Control and Responsibility concluded.
On August 23, Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) warned of the spread of a new SARS-CoV-2 strain in the country—XFG, also known as "stratus." it is more contagious than previous strains, but the illness is mild. It poses a danger to people in high-risk groups.
