In the Novosibirsk region identified "omicron" and declared quarantine in schools

The first cases of the omicron-strain of CORONAVIRUS were discovered in the Novosibirsk region. This was stated by the Governor of the region Andrey Travnikov during a press conference, RBC Novosibirsk reports.

According to him, the pre-omicron delta strain of coronavirus is still present in the region - this can be seen in the number of hospitalizations and calls to hospitals. In addition, the load on call centers has doubled in the region.

The current situation confirms that omicron infects children faster, the HEAD of the region added. Another feature of the new wave, he called the reduction of the gap in time during the spread of coronavirus between Russian regions from west to east.

Against the backdrop of the spread of "omicron", the regional authorities announced the introduction of a general quarantine for school students. Primary school students will be sent on vacation for two weeks, and middle and high school students will be transferred to distance learning for one to two weeks. The measures will not affect only 11th graders: they will be required to undergo mandatory testing for covid-19 .
