In the Novosibirsk region, the number of bankrupts among individuals and individual entrepreneurs increased by almost 43%. According to Fedresurs, for the first quarter of 2022 in the region, the number of reports on the introduction by the courts of the sale of property in relation to individuals and individual entrepreneurs amounted to 1,443. For comparison, in the first quarter of 2021, there were 1,010 bankrupts.

Svetlana Svetlyakova, HEAD of the Garantiya legal center, believes that the growth in the number of bankrupts in the Novosibirsk Region is due to the high debt load of the population.

“People want debt collectors to stop calling their relatives and their jobs. The bankruptcy procedure has certain risks, but they are not so significant. The number of those who decide to go for this procedure is growing, ”said Svetlyakova.

Elman Mekhtiyev, president of the National Association of Professional Collection Agencies (NAPCA), told RBC Novosibirsk that now there are about 345 thousand overdue debts in the Novosibirsk region, the total amount of which reaches 22 billion rubles.

“In fact, 49% of all debtors fall under bankruptcy proceedings in the Novosibirsk Region, that is, we can talk about about 150,000 debtors who can potentially start bankruptcy proceedings,” Mehdiyev said.

He noted that 51% of debtors have the amount of overdue debt below the "input" threshold in the amount of 500 thousand rubles. Most of those debtors who can apply for bankruptcy proceedings have debts in the unsecured consumer lending segment.

A potential bankrupt is a borrower with an overdue debt of more than 500 thousand rubles for a period of more than 90 days.
