The Norwegian experts, like the Danish ones, recommended that drugs from ASTRAZENECA and Johnson & Johnson be excluded from the vaccination campaign. Both of these vaccines were under suspicion due to the formation of blood clots in patients

A government committee of experts in Norway has recommended that vaccines developed by the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca and the American company Johnson & Johnson (J&J) be excluded from the list of drugs recommended for mass vaccination against covid-19 , according to NRK.

The Norwegian Public HEALTH Institute (FHI) also recommended that the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine be phased out. The DIRECTOR of the institute, Camille Stoltenberg, said it is not known how high the risk of using this vaccine is, and therefore it is also unclear what the benefits of using it are. Therefore, the FHI recommended that the Janssen vaccine be transferred to “reserve” — to send drugs to warehouses in case of failure in the delivery of other vaccines to the country or the situation with CORONAVIRUS infection worsens.

Professor of Molecular Immunology Anne Spurkland, commenting to NRK on these recommendations from government experts, noted that Norway was one of the countries that recorded the likely occurrence of severe side effects after using the AstraZeneca vaccine. There have been four deaths in the country due to thrombosis in patients treated with this drug. Before AstraZeneca's vaccine was suspended, 135,000 doses of the drug were used in the country.

As in Denmark, which previously restricted the use of these vaccines, experts in Norway recommended that citizens remain able to be vaccinated with these drugs voluntarily, if they wish.
