The Kremlin is not discussing the possibility of introducing a lockdown in RUSSIA due to the spread of the omicron strain, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, TASS reports.
“Nobody is discussing any lockdowns. We see the dynamics,” Peskov said.
So he commented on the information that the authorities may impose severe restrictions if the level of free bed capacity is below 15%. Earlier, this option was announced by Ura.ru, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on HEALTH Alexei Kurinny.
According to Peskov, the government’s operational headquarters for the fight against CORONAVIRUS and the Kremlin are largely guided by data on the number of hospitalizations. These figures indicate the burden on the healthcare system, he said.
“We see that the numbers [of infections] are growing, but this does not lead to a proportional increase in the number of hospitalizations, which indicates that this strain is indeed transmitted in a form that does not lead to an increased number of hospitalizations,” Peskov said. He added that "all other reasoning is from the evil one."
