Russia will strengthen its western borders in such a way as to be able to maintain parity and so that "it would not occur to anyone to attack" its territory, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with Belarus 1 TV channel, RIA Novosti reports.
According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the corresponding instruction after Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu informed him that NATO states were strengthening their military potential near Russia's western borders.
“Our Department of Defense is now working on this, to develop a plan to respond to increase and strengthen our military capabilities on the western frontiers. Of course, this will be done in such a way as to protect us and to maintain the necessary parity in everything, so that it would not occur to anyone, in Russian speaking, to attack us, ”he said.
